Community Grants

The 2017/18 grant cycle is closed. Applications for the next cycle will open in September 2018.

Each year, NECN awards grant monies to projects based in the inner N/NE neighborhoods. The Office of Neighborhood Involvement (ONI) provides funding for the grants program to the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods, along with Portland’s six other Neighborhood Coalitions. The purpose of the grants program is to provide neighborhood and community organizations with the opportunity to improve the quality of life for residents of inner North/Northeast Portland. Awards are selected based on projects’ potential to:

  • Involve and benefit a diverse, broad group of people;

  • Build leadership, identity, skills, relationships and partnerships – especially with and among historically underrepresented populations; and

  • Increase community capacity to influence public decisions and shape the future of Inner N/NE Portland.
