Host a Block Party

So those warm summer evenings are here and you’re thinking it would be nice to get together with your neighbors and hold a block party, but you don’t know where to begin. Have no fear – it’s easy to throw a block party!

For help with block party planning, see How to Throw a Block Party in 5 Easy Steps by Signe Todd, Concordia Neighborhood Association.
Contact NECN at 503-388-5004 for additional help planning your event.

If you are coordinating a National Night Out event, go to the Office of Neighborhood Involvement’s National Night Out website for all the information and resources you will need. Registration closes on July 25.

For block parties, community events and National Night Out events that occupy public streets, organizers must complete a street closure application from the City of Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT). The application, instructions and resources are available on PBOT’s Block Party Permit Application Form. You may also call PBOT’s block party line at 503-823-4003.
