Block Party Season is Here!
So those warm summer evenings are almost here and you’re thinking it would be nice to get together with your neighbors and hold a block party, but you don’t know where to begin. Have no fear- it’s easy to throw a block party!
The first step for block parties, community events and National Night Out events in inner N/NE is to read and complete a street closure application from the City of Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT).
A new permit application form and procedure for 2013 is available on the PBOT website. You may also call PBOT’s block party line at 503-823-4003 with questions.
Look for different forms and requirements depending on your event:
- Block Parties are intended to be a small gatherings of your immediate neighbors for having a potluck or barbeque.
- Community Events are for more than your immediate neighbors, such as hosting a larger event like a street fair, fundraiser, home tour, festival, art fair, etc.
